Policies
Books and DVDs Policy: Books and DVDs may be checked out by any member of the CRMS community. The library utilizes a self-checkout system in the Alexandria library management program. This may be accessed on either countertop desktop computer in the library. Standard checkout period is two weeks, though materials may be renewed personally through Alexandria or by contacting the librarian in person or by email for assistance. Patrons will be charged for lost or damaged items. There is no limit to how many items a patron may check out. Materials must be returned to the return slot in the front of the reference desk. Patrons will be charged for items that are rescued from dorm rooms and other locations on campus. All of the above also applies to interlibrary loan materials.
Electronics Policy: The library lends out various devices, such as Kindles and iPads. These devices must be checked out and returned in person to the librarian. If you check out a device it is your responsibility to return it in a timely fashion and in the same condition in which it was checked out. Users will be charged for lost or damaged devices. Additionally, patrons may not add content to a device without permission.
Evening Study Policy: The library is open to boarding students for evening study on Sunday-Thursday nights between 7:30-9:30 pm. Students must sign in and out with the evening study proctor. The noise policy is in effect and the proctor may ask disruptive students to leave and return to the dorm. If this does occur, a student may not study in the library during the evening for the remainder of that week. Day students may attend evening study in the library with permission.
Flatscreen Policy: The flatscreens in the seminar room and the booth exist first and foremost for educational purposes. If you would like to use them for recreational viewing or gaming, please first consult the librarian or another member of the faculty who is working in the building.
Food and Drink Policy: Food and drink are welcome in areas of the library that contain cement flooring. This includes the center cafe area, seminar room, technology booth, and private study rooms. We ask that students throw away their trash, return dirty mugs to the sink, keep the kitchen area clean, and generally pick up after themselves. Failure to do so will result in loss of food and drink privileges.
Magazine Policy: Magazines must remain in the library. Current issues are in protective sleeves on the shelf. Past issues are located behind them. The copier is available as an alternative to magazines leaving the building.
Noise Policy: The CRMS library is a quiet environment. Please do not speak above a whisper. If you need to speak more loudly, you may use the private study rooms or other unoccupied enclosed spaces (ex. seminar room, instructional support room, college counseling office). The librarian, evening study proctors, or other faculty in the building may dismiss noisy students for being disruptive.
Office and Art Supplies Policy: Supplies are located in a bin near the corner of the counter opposite the copier. These must remain in the library and be returned to the bin when not in use. Please respect this so that supplies will continue to be available to everyone for future use.
Printing, Copying, Scanning Policy: The library offers access to printing, copying, and scanning for all members of the CRMS community. Please do not print/copy in excess and use recycled paper and print/copy double sided when possible.
Reserve Shelf Policy: All items placed on the reserve shelf must remain in the library. Copies of these resources may be made.
